  • The Rare Blue Roses
Are you a rose lover? If so, or even if your not, Blue Roses are a variety anyone can appreciate. The Blue Rose is very rare, hard to find, and difficult to cultivate. Why is this? Are they available at all? To find out more information about Blue roses, keep reading.

Blue Roses are rare because they are difficult to cultivate. What does this mean? Direct Answers - Column for the week of October 7, 2002

In the first half of May, I went through two remarkable changes. One was physical and the other involved emotional recall.

The physical one was what I thought was flu and a heavy dose of it. It was accompanied by a surreal shivering never experienced before or since. The recall was of a family I knew in my school days more than 20 years ago.

I imagined them not during the school years, when I knew them, but much earlier. I got images of all three children as handsome creatures having just come into this world. I saw t ...

  • The DNA of Top Achievers

Of course by now we are all becoming aware of DNA. It is the source code that determines who we are. When we look at DNA we can see what a person will look like, what diseases they may come down with, etc. This has been a tremendous breakthrough for scientists and will continue to be so for some time, I think.

This got me to thinking about what makes up those who are top achievers. Is there a "DNA" to them? Obviously, all top achievers wouldn't have the same literal DNA but what about a figurative DNA? Is there a common "gene" that they all have? Are there common "genes" perhaps? I th ...

Introgen's INGN 241 Shows Promise In Treatment Of Breast Cancer: Effects Enhanced By Combination With Herceptin, Chemotherapy, Radiation And Hormone Therapies

Introgen Therapeutics, Inc. today reported that in preclinical studies its investigational cancer therapy INGN 241 reduced tumor growth and increased tumor cell death in various breast cancer treatment regimens. These data appear in the current issue of the journal Cancer Gene Therapy and also were described in three presentations at the 2005 San Antonio Breast Cancer Symposium. Introgen researchers and their collaborators at The University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center conducted the studies. The article in Cancer Gene Therapy describes the anti-cancer activity of mda-7, the active component of INGN 241, in nine breast cancer tumors. Studies evaluated INGN 241 as a single agent; in combination with radiation the...

  • Hair Loss Factors
What are the factors that contribute to hair loss? I know I have friends and relative that have suffered hair loss, but they are so different. As I checked into it farther, I found that there are a lot of factors that can contribute to hair loss. Some are natural and others are not caused by natural factors. It seems that there are as many hair loss factors as there are individuals. However, there are some main factors that contribute to a majority of cases.

Perhaps the most common factor in hair loss is genetics. Likely when you hear the words “hair loss,” you think of male pattern ...

  • Four Main Factors Causing High Cholesterol
Besides diet, other causes of high cholesterol are lifestyle, gender and the heritage of the individual.

For some, even maintaining cholesterol at the right levels and being fit and thin will still not prevent the development of high levels of bad cholesterol. Due to heart risk factors besides diet, some people require a very aggressive approach which includes cholesterol lowing medication.
