Beauty Today: All Smoke and Mirrors?
Did you ever notice that the bar is continually being raised on exactly what physical characteristics define beauty? As I sit in front of the TV, I am bombarded by beauties with pouty lips, perfect bone structure, flawless skin, more "voluptuous" upper regions, size 2 waists, and hair that resembles spun silk. Take these same beauties and plop them back in time 20-30 years, when the advent of modern cosmetic technology had not even begun to reach its full potential. Do you think they would have had those same attributes you find yourself longing for when faced with these image ...

It's Never Too Late to Prevent Osteporosis
Calcium - a key element in the fight (ARA) - Osteoporosis, a chronic disease that results in the deterioration of bone mineral density, affects nearly 28 million Americans -- 2 million of which are men. Despite these staggering numbers, this disease is often preventable. Though osteoporosis has been thought of as a disease that affects mostly women, 5-6 million men are at risk of developing this disease each year and the risks increase with age. Bush Rejects Possible Compromise on Stem Cell Research
President Bush has rejected out of hand a possible Republican-led compromise on expanding federal research funding on stem cell research.
Bush unswayed by Sen. Frist on stem cell research
CRAWFORD, Texas (Reuters) - President Bush in remarks published on Wednesday reiterated his threat to veto any legislation that would use federal funds to destroy human embryos for stem cell research after Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist broke with Bush on the subject. "I'm confident that I have achieved the right balance between science and ethics," he told eight newspapers in a roundtable interview on Tuesday. Frist, a Tennessee Republican and surgeon, last Friday endorsed legislation that would expand federally funded embryonic stem cell research, seen as possible cures to diseases like diabetes, Alzheimer's, Parkinson's, and others. Bush allowed federal funding for stem cell research in 2001 but imposed limits on it.

Produce More Sperm - Increasing Ejaculate Volume
New research by Israeli fertility experts has challenged current medical opinion, which holds that refraining from sex for up to a week is beneficial for men prior to undergoing some types of fertility treatment. Doctors from Soroka University and Ben-Gurion University tested over 7,200 semen samples for semen volume, sperm concentration and shape, and the percentage and total count of motile (active and moving) sperm. The samples were from around 6,000 men being investigated or treated for infertility who had abstained from sex for periods of up to two weeks. More than 4,500 of ...

Should We Allow The Genetic Modification of Insects?
Some scientists argue over creation, intelligent design and evolution. Others argue did man create god or did god create man. Let us discuss our scientific advancements. When does Man cross the line and become a god? Or a creator or modifier of life to such a degree that he has changed the entire current scenario? One interesting development has been to make corn better for ethanol, simply modify the corn more. Call it Super Corn, which uses little water to grow, has high yields and can be used to make plastics, fuel and/or feed the world. Well what if we genetically manipulate mosqui ...

The Kidnapping of Content
http://www.plagiarism.org and http://www.Turnitin.com
Latin kidnapped the word "plagion" from ancient Greek and it ended up in English as "plagiarism". It literally means "to kidnap" - most commonly, to misappropriate content and wrongly attribute it to oneself. It is a close kin of piracy. But while the software or content pirate does not bother to hide or alter the identity of the content's creator or the software's author - the plagiarist does. Plagiarism is, therefore, more pernicious than piracy.
