  • The Monster's Mother

Somewhere in the world, every eight seconds, a mother is throwing her hands in the air and declaring that her child is a little monster. But for Echidna it was the literal truth.

Echidna was called the mother of all monsters, although her children numbered no more than a dozen or so, and many were exemplary offspring and a pride to any parent. They may still roam the earth in the quiet unseen places, waiting the day when a new Hero will come to challenge them.

There are many arguments about Echidna's exact lineage, but who amongst us can vouch for every union in our own backgrou ...

  • The Profect Solution for Diabetics
Diabetes, which affects more than 6% of the US population or over 18,000,000 people [i], is diagnosed when the body is not creating or effectively utilizing the hormone called insulin. As a result, much-needed energy from sugar, starch, and other sources are not being exploited as effectively as they should. This can lead to severe adverse health consequences, including nerve, ocular, and kidney problems [ii].

While genetics and environmental factors play a role, the exact cause of diabetes is as yet undetermined. However, one thing is precisely clear to those with this condition: eati ...

Does Human Cloning Really Hold The Key To Miracle Cures? One of the Worlds Leading Biochemists Says we Have it Backwards When it Comes to Cloning

Recently it was reported that South Korean scientists successfully developed a highly efficient procedure to produce embryonic stem cells that have been derived from cloned human embryos for therapeutic research. Many scientists in the United States are now saying that Korea has out paced the US because of the Federal ban on funding for embryonic stem cell research. They contend that the ban on therapeutic cloning using human embryos should be lifted in the interest of research. Ethical questions abound. In a recent poll when asked whether they support the cloning of human embryos the overwhelming answer from the general public was NO. However, the use of cloning for research had a certain level of acceptance. Do we have it backwards? [PRWEB May 22, 2005]

United States : The UN forbids any form of human cloning

The General Assembly of the United Nations has just adopted a declaration asking member states to ban all forms of human cloning, including cloning for therapeutic purposes. The declaration, which is not legally binding, marks the end of four years of negotiations on an international convention on cloning. Many delegations have criticised the lack of distinction between therapeutic and reproductive cloning.

Pope condemns human cloning and human arrogance

  • Ultram Story: Keeping Pain Control Under Control

    When Aspirin Isn’t Enough

It’s surprising how clearly we can recall getting hurt. Years later, we can recount our first fall from a too-tempting tree, a bee-sting, the birth of a child. We can even tell humorous stories about those events because the pain was transient – it passed.

But many illnesses and conditions can make pain a daily visitor, interfering with our jobs, family lives, even sleep. Even ancient people tried to relieve the devastation of chronic pain using surgeries and medicinal herbs. By the 1800s, people started using narcotics (drugs like opium) to redu ...
