Everything in our lives we have had a hand in creating.
What we think, feel and believe deep inside becomes real in

Cases of kidnapping and car bombings have skyrocketed in

and the appointment of Iraq's Interim Government, the
situation on the ground is rife with violence and terrorism.

Rightly or wrongly, the justification for war was based on

    Genetics News:

Cancer Scientists Call For A Large-Scale Human Epigenome Project

A vast code, invisible to the DNA sequencing effort that constituted the Human Genome Project, is rapidly being shown to play a direct role in human health. This "epigenome" - from the Greek epi, meaning "in addition to" - consists of chemical "amendments" that dangle like charms on a bracelet from the linear string of letters that spell out the genetic code. Now, an international group of 40 leading cancer scientists says the time is ripe to undertake a large-scale international "Human Epigenome Project" designed to map the chemical modifications to DNA that comprise the epigenetic code.

NIH plans to sequence cow genome

The National Institutes of Health revealed Tuesday it plans to begin sequencing the genome or the layout of the genes of the cow as early as September, a project officials said could lead to a better understanding of the genetic basis for human health and disease. "By comparing the human genome with the genomes of different organisms, we can better understand the structure and function of human genes and thereby develop new strategies in the battle against human disease," National Human Genome Research Institute Director Dr. Francis S. Collins said in a written statement. Project to sequence cow genes OKd MSNBC Baylor has a cow in genome project

  • Cats, Dogs, and Cancer

A detection technique called TRAP (Telomeric Repeat Amplification Protocol) used in the early detection of cancer in humans has found its way into the realm of veterinary medicine. This relatively new method of cancer detection allows veterinarians to catch cancer earlier, increasing the likelihood of successful treatment.

The test works by detecting the enzyme telomerase, which helps cancer cells reproduce indefinitely. Telomerase activity seems to be a unique feature of benign tumor cells that have undergone malignant transformation.

Regular cells and cancer cells have some ve ...
