  • Minimize your Risk for Identity Theft

Identity theft is the fastest growing crime in America. According to the Federal Trade Commission, the number of identity theft incidents reached 9.9 million in 2003. These crimes are estimated to have taken the average victim $500 and 30 hours to resolve.

From stolen credit cards to total identity kidnapping, these ugly and prevalent crimes are hard to prevent and often difficult to correct. Although it is hard to truly avoid becoming a victim of identity theft, there are a few ways you can guard against this damaging crime.

  • What on Earth is an Enzyme?

Enzymes are the workers in our body that make everything function, by enabling chemical reactions. All living cells contain enzymes. They are hard to visualize, since they are not something tangible, but they are essential to our bodies and our lives depend on them.

There are many kinds of enzymes, and they do everything from helping us breath to helping begin life at conception. Eighty percent of our DNA code relates to enzymes. But the kind of enzymes discussed here relate to our digestion and the food we eat.

In the process of digestion, the digestive enzymes in our bodies br ...

  • Facial Exercises - A New Trend in Non-Surgical Facial Toning

There is a moment in everyone’s life, when you notice for the first time, (it may be for some around your 35th birthday), wrinkles and sagginess on your face. These may appear as a result of stress-filled days, good and bad personal experiences, genetics and a host of other factors influencing your life.

At first, looking from different angles in the mirror you think, perhaps you can do something about it. Well, anti-aging creams definitely improve the texture of the skin through quality moisturizing and fight against damaging UV rays together with regular beautician visits. What abou ...

    Genetics News:

$6 Million NSF Grant Supports UF Genetic Research On Loblolly Pine
GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- With the aid of a $6 million grant from the National Science Foundation, University of Florida researchers are working with scientists at the University of California, Davis; North Carolina State University; and Texas A&M University to identify genes that regulate wood properties and disease-resistance traits in loblolly pine.

    Size and Lifespan
There is a correlation between size and lifespan; witness the pygmy goby, the shortest lived vertebrate known to man. The secret to really long lifespans for humans won't be just medicine, but a rejiggering of our genetic code and metabolism to make us larger and slower. Our descendants may be fifteen feet tall and live to the ripe old age of 400. Perhaps we'll adopt other elephantine traits for aesthetic reasons. We americans seem to be doing our best to reach elephantine proportions without genetic rejiggering. I'm counting the days until my first heart stint.

  • Cellulite: Can We Really Get Rid of It?
It has been the bane of every women's existence since the dawn of time
    - the affliction known as cellulite. We all have it to varying degrees,
and it seems to get worse as we get older in many cases. So, should we
just resign ourselves to the fact that it is here to stay, or is there a way to fight and get rid of cellulite?

Thankfully, the answer is yes, we can fight cellulite, or at least the
appearance of cellulite, through several therapeutic treatments that
are available on the market today. It is not, however, a one-time deal. Once you stop the treatments, the ce ...

    Easy Tips for Healthy Pets
    (c) 2005 Dr GW Graham

Do you want a long and healthy life for your pets?

There are things in our pets' environments that can rob them of precious health and long life. I'm
not talking about cars accidents and mean kids in the neighborhood. I'm talking about things inside the home. Things like:

    1) Food
Food is meant to be good tasting and good for you.
The same applies to our pets. Unfortunately, both
people food and pet food are full of stuff. And
most of this stuff isn't found growing naturally.

    Manufacturers have ...

  • Wake-Up Call

Direct Answers - Column for the week of October 7, 2002

In the first half of May, I went through two remarkable changes. One was physical and the other involved emotional recall.

The physical one was what I thought was flu and a heavy dose of it. It was accompanied by a surreal shivering never experienced before or since. The recall was of a family I knew in my school days more than 20 years ago.

I imagined them not during the school years, when I knew them, but much earlier. I got images of all three children as handsome creatures having just come into this world. I saw t ...
