  • An Interview - on history and educational media
    AN INTERVIEW:
    1. Can you briefly summarize why you think history is a weapon of war against people?

Briefly?, not really, except to say Sun Tzu wasn’t the first to notice that propaganda was the first and most important part of conquest. Caesars won more through secret deals and blackmailing the likes of Herod and the Sanhedrin than they ever did through force of arms. We saw how guerillas work against a conqueror in Vietnam and even in Iraq at the present. I have written about fifty books. The framework for a new history that is based on forensics and science or artifacts rather tha ...

In the Greek tale of creation, a Titan (Greek god) by the name of Epimetheus is given the task of creating living creatures. He screws the job up by giving all the good DNA and survival mechanisms to the animals. When it came time to creating man he had nothing left but soft skin and weak limbs.

Desperate, he calls upon his brother Prometheus (which means forethought) to help him out. Prometheus decides to give humans the ability to walk upright and be able to see far away into the distance (like gods). Prometheus then flies to heaven, steals fire from the sun and gives it to mankind. ...

  • The Rare Blue Roses
Are you a rose lover? If so, or even if your not, Blue Roses are a variety anyone can appreciate. The Blue Rose is very rare, hard to find, and difficult to cultivate. Why is this? Are they available at all? To find out more information about Blue roses, keep reading.

Blue Roses are rare because they are difficult to cultivate. What does this mean? Well, in simple terms, the rose does not have blue pigment in its DNA therefore, does not allow itself to become blue even with scientists trying to make it happen, there is no true blue rose available today. But, there are alternatives.

Structures include a genetic code, populations, and a gene pool. A text is encoded with genetic markup and then distributed out to writers to form a population of copies and a gene pool of variations. Writers communicate by recombination - they make contributions to the pool and they draw on the contributions of others. In the course of their interactions they conduct a search through the design space and the text evolves. License: MIT/X Consortium License Changes: A bare-bones, functional system was introduced. It cuts many corners. Citing concerns about the accuracy of preimplantation genetic diagnosis, the method a number of practitioners use to pick the healthiest embryos during IVF, UF scientists set out to study the procedure. Their work, described during a recent meeting of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine, reveals the technique is actually highly reliable. But because there is a slim chance a genetic abnormality can cause doctors to misdiagnose embryos, some concerns still need to be addressed, the scientists said.......brbrbra href=http://dev.wormbase.org/db/seq/gbrowse/wormbase?name=III%3A7472287..7572286;source=wormbase;width=800;version=100;label=LOCI%3Aoverview-CG-OP-GENETICThe Genome Browser now displays genetic spans/abrIn an effort to unite the genetic and physical maps, the Genome Browser can now display interpolated genetic intervals (under the "Genetic limits" option). This currently only includes loci that have two-factor mapping data. It works by taking the map positions of all genetic loci - cloned or not - and interpolating them onto the physical map. The range is established using the confidence interval. A secondary consequence of this is that it is now possible to search the Genome Browser for genetic loci like mua-4. • Are Things Hopeless?
On its face, judging from what we get in the media, it would seem our world is spiraling into the abyss. Putting aside that “doom and gloom” is a profit center for the media, there is reason for concern but also reason for hope.

That hope resides in each of us as individuals. Evil can only exist if good men do nothing. Every good or bad thing that has ever come to the world began with one person who decided to do something. One is a powerful number. The helping hand we need for world woes does not lie with government or others, it is right at the end of our own arm.

    Yes, everyth ...

  • Ultram Story: Keeping Pain Control Under Control

    When Aspirin Isn’t Enough

It’s surprising how clearly we can recall getting hurt. Years later, we can recount our first fall from a too-tempting tree, a bee-sting, the birth of a child. We can even tell humorous stories about those events because the pain was transient – it passed.

But many illnesses and conditions can make pain a daily visitor, interfering with our jobs, family lives, even sleep. Even ancient people tried to relieve the devastation of chronic pain using surgeries and medicinal herbs. By the 1800s, people started using narcotics (drugs like opium) to redu ...

  • Life in Cyberspace
Two disparaging claims often made about the online world are that it is inhibited with nerds who don't have a life and that 30 years old woman you met and liked is actually a 13 year old boy. Both have a basis in fact. Some pioneering message-board addicts were in reality socially challenged hackers, and lot of 13 year old boys probably don't have the confidence to confess up to their true civil state online.

But the time for convenient generalizations about the population of the online world is past. It's in its Devonian era now, swarming with rapidly evolving forms that may or may not ...
