  • The Scientific Breakthrough That Allows Every Couple To Choose The Gender Of Their Baby

The advances in science over the past century have been breath-taking. We’ve seen man stroll casually on the moon, watched in awe as scientists cloned and brought a sheep to life using nothing more than a few strands of microscopic DNA and we witnessed some stunning improvements in the fields of medicine and care – for example, Viagra to some has been the discovery of a lifetime.

Now, it seems, the latest scientifically backed research actually allows a couple to safely and naturally choose the gender of their baby with up to 98% accuracy. The implications of this research are huge an ...

  • A Look at Microdermabrasion Machines
Microdermabrasion systems are safe for most all skin types. Microdermabrasion systems actually evolved from a process known as dermabrasion. Though effective, especially for serious dermis scarring, dermabrasion is harsh, requiring a metallic re-surfacing tool, anesthesia, and long recovery times. Microdermabrasion systems, however, gently smooth signs of aging, sun damage, and scarring with micro-crystal creams. The beauty of micro-crystal creams is how powerfully they polish the skin, but remains gentle and forgiving.

A special cleansing device circulates a cream, infused with tiny e ...

    Genetics News:

Development, inheritance, and linkage-group assignment of 60 novel microsatellite markers for the gray, short-tailed opossum Monodelphis domestica
Nicolas Gouin, Scott J. Westenberger, Susan M. Mahaney, Peter Lindley, John L. VandeBerg, and Paul B. SamollowShort-tandem-repeat (SSR) or microsatellite polymorphisms are some of the most extensively employed genetic markers in contemporary linkage mapping studies. To date, only a limited number...

Interpolated genetic map position of polymorphisms
All polymorphisms now have an interpolated genetic map position. These positions are calculated by interpolating over 15,000 polymorphisms into a genetic map containing over 1700 markers. This data is most directly evident on the Markers search page. In general, this should help to stabilize the position of polymorphisms on the genetic map. • What Makes a “Good” Foot?
Spring has arrived and you’re probably thinking about trail rides, shows and other fun riding events. If you’ve had your horse turned out all winter and are just getting him ready for the riding season, you may want to pay extra attention to how his feet are doing. New research suggests that while genetics play some part in determining how good your horse’s feet are, exercise and environment are just as important. Research by Robert M. Bowker, VMD, PhD indicates that most horses have similar hoof development up to four years of age, but after that, exercise and environment are the key factors ...

  • New Gene Tool May Unlock Root Causes of Disease
    Copyright 2005 Daily News Central

Genetic researchers have made substantial advances in understanding the root causes of common diseases and the history of human evolution, according to a series of reports published in scientific journals this week.

Chief among these accomplishments is the work of an international consortium of more than 200 scientists from Canada, China, Japan, Nigeria, the United Kingdom and the United States published in the October 27 issue of the journal Nature.

The team studied DNA samples from four different parts of the world and concluded that gen ...

  • Understanding Glyconutrients

You say you don’t know what glyconutrients are? You are not alone. Perhaps you have heard a bit about glyconutrients but you don’t really know what they are or how they could benefit you. Understanding the role the glyconutrients play in the overall scheme of nutrition is very important if you are interested in supporting your own health and the health of those you know and love.

In the 26th edition of Harper’s Illustrated Biochemistry, chapter 47 is a new chapter on the subject of glycoproteins. These microscopic structures are essential to all cellular function. They are constructed ...
