  • Treating West Nile Virus with High Quality St. John's Wort

West Nile Virus, although new to the U.S., is well-documented. The Centers for Disease Control identifies it as a flavivirus, a member of the Togavirus family. It is closely related to yellow fever and dengue fever. This is important because the Togavirus family are encapsulated viruses, i.e., they are covered with a lipid (fatty) coating.

This is exciting, because it means the virus is accessible to treatment utilizing high quality St. John's Wort (SJW). Several studies have been done on a variety of encapsulated viruses, including herpes simplex virus types 1 and 2, parainfluenza vi ...

  • Male Mid-Life Crisis

Men notice that their former youthful exuberance and ravenous virility are slowly diminishing when they reach the age of 40 and onwards. This is when males experience hair loss, bone loss, insomnia or other sleeping problems, and problems with memory and calculation.

They often feel cranky, fatigued, and less motivated. Or sometimes these are accompanied by sweating and flushing, loss of muscle mass and strength, aches and pains, increased fat, decreased sexual performance or erectile dysfunction, and depression.

Most men who reach midlife will basically experience one or all of ...

  • Particle Beams Sending Specs of Dust Back in Time

Can a particle beam under the right conditions send specs of dust back into time? The answer is yes this could be possible under the right conditions, even more far out is the idea of sending dust to a set of coordinates in a region in four dimensions or a point in the atmosphere to start a cloud formation or make rain, or a huge dust cloud to shield top secret weaponry during prototype tests in the middle of a war. If you can send particles somewhere or through space to a certain coordinate or into a different time or onto another planet. You could actually terra form Mars or a distant wor ...

Gene Variant Could Predict Type 2 Diabetes

Diabetes News - American Diabetes Association Southwestern researchers have identified a gene variant that could be a predictor for type 2 diabetes -- a possible first step in diagnosing individuals who are at risk for the disease. Drs. Manisha Chandalia...

USA : Diabetes and obesity linked by a gene

The link between type 2 diabetes and obesity has just been established by researchers that have identified a gene linked to both diseases. They have shown that the activity of the JNK gene is abnormally high in obese mice and in those who follow a diet with high fat content. On the contrary, mice lacking this gene are thinner and more sensitive to insulin, a hormone made by the pancreas which allows the body to assimilate glucose.

Diabetes - Evidence that the mitochondrial leucyl tRNA synthetase gene represents a novel type 2 diabetes susceptibility gene

June 1, 2005 -- Previously, we have shown that a mutation in the mitochondrial DNA--encoded tRN[A.sup.Leu(UUR)] gene is associated with type 2 diabetes. One of the consequences ...

  • When To Order and Send Your Wedding Invitations

Wedding Invitations should be ordered when you have all the details of your wedding set… place, time of ceremony and reception as well as your guest list. Plan to place your invitation order at least 3-4 months in advance, some companies may require 4-6 months. Especially, if you are ordering custom made invitations or handmade invitations and coordinating ensembles. Depending on the intricacy of your design and because they are not mass produced, but rather assembled one by one it can take anywhere from 4 to 10 weeks for your order to arrive. Also consider the factor of the design process, ...

(NC)-It's one of the most common phrases you hear from your doctor:

"I just want to run a few tests." Laboratory tests are among the most important aspects of modern health care. The College of American Pathologists estimates that "laboratory services drive more than 70 percent of clinical decisions from diagnosis through therapy and prognosis."

Lab tests are carried out to measure or detect substances in a person's body. These tests are important and are used by doctors to make informed decisions about your health and the appropriate treatment required. For some conditions, there is jus ...

  • The Honeybush Miracle.
Perhaps a little eclipsed by the world-wide success of Rooibos, another natural South African health tea, Honeybush; is finally getting the attention it deserves.

Honeybush tea ( botanical name: Cyclopia intermedia ) grows along mountain slopes in the Cedarberg and Langkloof area, and has a naturally sweet, almost honey-like taste. Its brewing colour is a pinky red. South Africa produces only 200 tons of Honeybush tea per year. Not much when compared to the annual Rooibos tea crop of around 4000 tons. This lesser known tea has, however, apparently plenty to offer.

Just like the ever popu ...
