  • Genes and Work Ethic

If you have good genes, you are blessed. If they are exceptional, you might be successful on that alone.

Add work ethic and you will be successful and remarkable.

On Thursday, Sept. 9, 2004, Linda Green retired after 23 years as a dancer in “Jubilee!” the longest-running production of its kind in Las Vegas.

At 51, Green was the oldest continually working showgirl.

A local columnist dubbed her the “Cal Ripkin Jr. of showgirls,” after baseball’s record holder for most consecutive games played.

In certain respects, her achievement is more remarkable.

  • Solution to Obesity

First of all we need to find out a reason for this growing mountain of fat that is killing us.

We know now that the traditional explanation - that of overeating - is wrong. People eat when they’re hungry, and they stop when they’re full. The problem lies in hormonal imbalance inside our bodies, an imbalance that deprives us of the energy to live life to the full, and instead stores the energy as fat.

What influences human hormonal balance? The three biggest factors are: genetics, diet, and stress.

There are no prizes for guessing which one of those three is the easiest to ...

    Genetics News:

Gene therapy and genetic engineering: the future of medicine?
    NewsTarget May 21 2005 3:53AM GMT

Gene therapy and genetic engineering: the future of medicine?
Is gene therapy the next wave in medicine? As the age of chemical-based medicine is now thoroughly discredited (prescription drugs are toxic, haven't you heard?), and drug companies are losing both profits and credibility, there's a mad dash to find something to replace the current drug racket. Could...

The doctor is in: UH engineering students find medical mentors
In a joint effort with The Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center, University of Houston biomedical engineering students have been gaining exposure to career possibilities in medicine. Through summer internships that provide a mentor and $5,000 stipend, the interns take a participatory role in such research as hematopathology, neurointerventional radiology and endovascular radiology. Five of the program's eight participants are UH undergraduate students, working in labs of pathologists, neurologists, radiologists, cardiologists and neurosurgeons.

  • Easy Tips for Healthy Pets

    Easy Tips for Healthy Pets
    (c) 2005 Dr GW Graham

Do you want a long and healthy life for your pets?

There are things in our pets' environments that can rob them of precious health and long life. I'm
not talking about cars accidents and mean kids in the neighborhood. I'm talking about things inside the home. Things like:

The same applies to our pets. Unfortunately, both
people food and pet food are full of stuff. And
most of this stuff isn't found growing naturally.

  • Find a Doctor
    Find a Doctor
This is usually a simple task. Open up your phone book (Yellow Pages) and look for one in your area; or ask your primary care physician for a referral to see a specialist. Better still, go online – there is an abundance of free
    directories listing doctors.

    How to find a doctor?
There’s no magical route to finding the right doctor. If you have a primary care physician just call him or her and make an appointment. If you don’t have a primary care physician, try the route suggested above. Or, if you feel you need specialist care, you can save time and money by goin ...

  • Hair Loss Factors
What are the factors that contribute to hair loss? I know I have friends and relative that have suffered hair loss, but they are so different. As I checked into it farther, I found that there are a lot of factors that can contribute to hair loss. Some are natural and others are not caused by natural factors. It seems that there are as many hair loss factors as there are individuals. However, there are some main factors that contribute to a majority of cases.

Perhaps the most common factor in hair loss is genetics. Likely when you hear the words “hair loss,” you think of male pattern ...
