  • Nothing here Folks
Some people say the Net is a great wasteland, all those billions of bits and bytes of data zooming around in all directions, without form or content. Such people are full of something savvy computer professionals call "hooey".

Fact is, it's almost impossible to spend any amount of time on the Net without accomplishing something, even when you don't want to. Now, doing nothing - that takes focus and discipline. Sounds odd, but the hardcore slacker must be the very picture of diligence in his fight against that old bugaboo - productivity. Let your guard down for a second and you'll be cal ...

  • Weight Gain Myths

The vast majority of myths about weight gain are mostly passed down from "gym talk" and so-called experts who know nothing about the body's workings.

Myths that lead to wasted time, frustration and if are taken blindly as truth, can really set back your progress in the gym. Don't believe everything you hear when it comes to exercise and weight gain.

Simple, basic principles apply to all weight and muscle gain such as progressive overload, variable frequency of reps and high intensity workouts.

Lets take a look at some of the most common weight gain myths.

    High repeti ...

"Definition of an RRO node-id subobject", Jean Vasseur
2005-05-31: In the context of MPLS TE Fast Reroute, the Merge Point (MP) address is required at the Point of Local Repair (PLR) in order to select a backup tunnel intersecting a fast reroutable Traffic Engineering Label Switched Path (TE LSP) on a downstream Label Switch Router (LSR). However, existing protocol mechanisms are not sufficient to find an MP address in multi-domain routing networks where a domain is defined as an IGP area or an Autonomous System. Hence, the current MPLS Fast Reroute mechanism cannot be used to protect inter-domain TE LSPs from a failure of an ABR (Area Border Router) or ASBR (Autonomous System Border Router) respectively. This document specifies the use of existing Route Record Object (RRO) IPv4 and IPv6 sub-objects (with a new flag defined) thus defining the node-id subobject in order to solve this issue. Note that the MPLS Fast reroute mechanism mentioned in this document refers to the "Facility backup" MPLS TE Fast Reroute method.

  • Our Youth Need a Comprehensive Mentoring Program

We must challenge our youth to go beyond and excel in all they do, help them when they fall and guide them to the traits we will need when it is their turn to lead. There are many great programs for youth, sports, band, student government, Scouts, etc and we have so many dedicated servants to the cause of this public good. We have done so much, but it is time to take it up a notch, integrate the technologies we have for teaching and press on to the highest possible level of mentoring. We know mentoring works and we must use that innate social interaction of our species to the best of our ab ...

  • The Measurement Problem in Quantum Mechanics
Arguably the most intractable philosophical question attached to Quantum Mechanics (QM) is that of Measurement. The accepted (a.k.a. Copenhagen) Interpretation of QM says that the very act of sentient measurement determines the outcome of the measurement in the quantum (microcosmic) realm. The wave function (which describes the co-existing, superpositioned, states of the system) "collapses" following an act of measurement.

It seems that just by knowing the results of a measurement we determine its outcome, determine the state of the system and, by implication, the state of the Universe ...

  • Human Origins
The issue of human evolution going back at least 9,000,000 (nine million) years and possibly even being upright by that time is another of the facts which when in my youth seemed totally ridiculous. Actually many mystics said it goes back twelve million years to when what could be called the missing link occurred. The matter of whether we descended from apes is still up in the air and more importantly it would appear the mystics were right about cross-breeding and shamanistic attunements to affect such things in many life forms. These qualitative or spiritual changes are reflected in an indivi ...
