  • Vitamins that May Affect Hair Growth

Several different vitamin or mineral deficiencies can cause dry hair. To treat dry hair, try taking a multivitamin with 100 percent of the daily value of the essential vitamins. A multivitamin and mineral combination may provide some added coverage for possible deficiencies.

It's been shown that too little biotin and pantothenic acid (both B-complex vitamins) can lead to dry hair. Shampoos and hair treatment products commonly contain pantothenic acid (or pantothenol).

But evidence supporting the benefits of pantothenic acid for dry hair and hair loss is very weak. Also, some peo ...

  • The future of the Human Species - Part 4: Will we create our future?
Experiments have shown that human physiology becomes very weak in an unknown environment to the brain. Humans then start to panic. Problem is that humans do not necessarily want to show their uncertainty. So they hide it. When they actually hide this uncertainty, humans start to get stressed and this is the big problem.

When we get stressed, we become moody and cannot concentrate on what we are doing. Imagine an astronaut getting really frustrated in the middle of a mission on the International Space Station. This may be catastrophic! He seizes a hammer floating nearby in the zero-gravi ...

  • Easy Tips for Healthy Pets

    Easy Tips for Healthy Pets
    (c) 2005 Dr GW Graham

Do you want a long and healthy life for your pets?

There are things in our pets' environments that can rob them of precious health and long life. I'm
not talking about cars accidents and mean kids in the neighborhood. I'm talking about things inside the home. Things like:

    1) Food
Food is meant to be good tasting and good for you.
The same applies to our pets. Unfortunately, both
people food and pet food are full of stuff. And
most of this stuff isn't found growing naturally.

    Manufacturers have ...

Buckyballs could disrupt functioning of DNA

New look at DNA hints at origin of ultraviolet damage
Chemists at Ohio State University have gained new insight into how sunlight affects DNA. And what they found overturns ideas about genetic mutation that originated decades ago. In the current issue of the journal Nature, Bern Kohler and his colleagues report that DNA dissipates the energy from ultraviolet (UV) radiation in a kind of energy wave that travels up the edge of the DNA molecule, as if the energy were climbing one side of the helical DNA "ladder."

ASU researchers 'wire' DNA to identify mutations
A team of ASU researchers led by Nongjian Tao and Peiming Zhang has developed a new, breakthrough technique for the detection of DNA mutations.Their results, published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences, demonstrate for the first time, the possibility of directly identifying these mutations, or single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), by means of measuring the electrical conductance of a single DNA molecule.

Brownian Dynamics Simulation of Knot Diffusion along Stretched DNA Molecule.
Publication Date: 2005 Dec 16 PMID: 16361333Authors: Vologodskii, A.Journal: Biophys JManipulation of individual DNA molecules by optical tweezers made it possible to tie these molecules in different knots. After stretching the DNA molecules the knots become highly localized. In their resent study Quake and co-authors studied diffusion of such knots along stretched DNA molecules. We used these data to test the accuracy of Brownian dynamics simulation of DNA bending motion. We simulated stretched DNA molecules with knots 31, 41 and 71, and determined their diffusion coefficients. Comparison of the simulated and experimental results shows that DB simulation is capable to predict the rates of large-scale DNA rearrangements within factor of 2.

  • Psychographics versus Demographics
Being a branding guy is enough to drive you nuts. One reason why it can make you crazy is that people will ask for your advice - and pay decent dollars for it. I , might add - only to ignore you and the advice they paid for.

It's not that these are disagreeable people, mind you. These are simply people who refuse to accept how profoundly the web has changed marketing and banding strategies. Sure, everyone has their own theories about how to promote their business on the web, but by far, the most whacked out are the Number Nuts.

At the risk of generating a few hundred thousand nas ...

  • Human Health Modification Using Sun Light and Frequency

Human behavior could be modified using light preferably real sunlight. A person could rest in a hammock while a large fan would rotate at a prescribed speed. For instance a fan blade would block the sun as it passes the individual. A four bladed fan spinning at 2 revolutions per second would produce a shade spot on the individual 8 times per second. What this would be attempting is to use the sunlight healing properties along with inducing Alpha brain waves to a frequency near the earth’s frequency, which is 7.89 Hz.

The theory would hold that the immune system would run at full optim ...
