  • Do Low Carbohydrate Diets Lead to Weight Loss Success?
So your neighbor, office mate, best friend, whoever just lost 10 pounds in only two weeks following the latest in high protein low carbohydrate diets. And now you’re thinking you should give it a go -- have even started the search for high protein low carbohydrate recipes?

True, high protein low carb diets seem to be leading many people to weight loss success. Trouble is, they seemed to do it 30 years ago, too. They were the rage in the early 70s, and look where many of us are today: growing fatter with each decade.

The bottom line: Diets -- low carb diets or not -- simply don’ ...

I grew up as an unathletic kid. My mother was unathletic, so she just assumed I was too. You see, our family has weak ankles and no coordination. It wasn't until I was an adult that I realized that all this was a lie. I wasn't unathletic - I just hated team sports. I discovered I actually had a flair for dance, which takes quite a bit of athleticism and coordination. Weak ankles? Of course they're weak if you don't do anything to build up their strength. A lot of the physical deficiencies that I thought I'd inherited were really born out of laziness and blind acceptance - those were the real d ...

  • You have to try this, at least, once!

There is a unique freedom of expression that is available with websites/webpages, comparable to none. Text, images, hyperlinks, forms, specialized scripts, counters, clocks, pop-up's and unders, and thousands of other features, can be easily enough manipulated, to present almost anything that you want, to the on-line world. If you like, access can be limited, to the few people, of your choosing that have/or have access to, your URL( uniform remote location, or web address).

Limit it to your family, a membership site, or choose to blast it into cyberspace. The latter requires some te ...

    Genetics News:

Public collections of DNA and RNA sequence reach 100 gigabases
The world's three leading public repositories for DNA and RNA sequence information have reached 100 gigabases [100,000,000,000 bases; the 'letters' of the genetic code] of sequence. Thanks to their data exchange policy, which has paved the way for the global exchange of many types of biological information, the three members of the International Nucleotide Sequence Database Collaboration - EMBL Bank, GenBank and the DNA Data Bank of Japan all reached this milestone together.

ISER: selection of differentially expressed genes from DNA array data by non-linear data transformations and local fitting.
Publication Date: 2005 Dec 15 PMID: 16249264Authors: Drummond, R. D. - Pinheiro, A. - Rocha, C. S. - Menossi, M.Journal: BioinformaticsSUMMARY: This report describes an algorithm (intensity-dependent selection of expression ratios or ISER) developed to analyse DNA array data by optimizing the selection of genes with the most significant variations in expression amongst two RNA samples. The algorithm is designed for use when little or no replication of array hybridizations is available. AVAILABILITY: ISER is written in R language, and its code and on-line version are freely available at https://ipe.cbmeg.unicamp.br/pub/PMmA CONTACT: menossi@unicamp.br SUPPLEMENTARY INFORMATION: https://ipe.cbmeg.unicamp.br/pub/ISER.

  • The Measurement Problem in Quantum Mechanics
Arguably the most intractable philosophical question attached to Quantum Mechanics (QM) is that of Measurement. The accepted (a.k.a. Copenhagen) Interpretation of QM says that the very act of sentient measurement determines the outcome of the measurement in the quantum (microcosmic) realm. The wave function (which describes the co-existing, superpositioned, states of the system) "collapses" following an act of measurement.

It seems that just by knowing the results of a measurement we determine its outcome, determine the state of the system and, by implication, the state of the Universe ...

Do you enjoy watching forensic science shows like CSI? Are you interested in genetics and the intricacies of DNA? Genetic engineering that deals with the human genome and DNA has become a hot bed for discussion in recent years. Advancements in forensic science have helped law enforcement to nab criminals and solve previous “cold” cases. Understanding the components of the human body and human nature is valuable information that is a welcome notion of safety for most.

While many would agree that using DNA as evidence is a good idea, manipulating human genetics is another issue. Cloning h ...

  • Magnetic Energy and DNA
Magnetic energy has been in use for reducing pain and for normalizing body functions for hundreds of years. Recently a new technology has emerged that will move the magnetic healing fields in a new direction. This technology is called the Smart Magnet.

The Smart Magnet is an ingenious device, the size of a quarter, which has certain magnetic frequencies programmed into its magnetic pattern. The imprinted frequencies are designed to help a specific area of the body. When these magnets are held close to your skin your DNA picks up this magnetic energy.

The body needs energy to work ...
