  • Sheep Have Been Cloned...Are Humans Next?
Do you enjoy watching forensic science shows like CSI? Are you interested in genetics and the intricacies of DNA? Genetic engineering that deals with the human genome and DNA has become a hot bed for discussion in recent years. Advancements in forensic science have helped law enforcement to nab criminals and solve previous “cold” cases. Understanding the components of the human body and human nature is valuable information that is a welcome notion of safety for most.

While many would agree that using DNA as evidence is a good idea, manipulating human genetics is another issue. Cloning h ...

  • A Call for International Marriage Laws

I recently watched a CNN programme which centred on “kidnapped daughters” (from multicultural marriages) who were unwillingly given away in marriages in Islamic states by their fathers. Usually, the fathers were from these Islamic states. While pondering over why some states still refuse women their rights to choose whom to marry, the key question I am also trying to answer is “Which international law governs inter-country and inter-religious marriages?”

The real issue is whose belief overrides in an inter-country and inter-religious marriage. Should the father dictate the beliefs of ...

  • The News at Meucci Appaloosa Horse Ranch
We’re back from the 2005 nationals, held in Oklahoma City. We were competing, as usual, in only Open Halter Events. Our entries on July 7th and 8th were weanling colts, weanling fillies, yearling mares, and two-year-old mares. We were victorious garnering four top tens in large classes. These classes represented the culmination of the best breeding programs built on the best efforts of horsemen and women since this breed’s conception. These horses proudly carry the genetics and baton of inspiration for the future as a breed.

Not everyone rehearses their losses. Embarrassingly, it was no ...

Sequential addition of short dna oligos in dna-polymerase-based synthesis reactions
A method of fabricating a DNA molecule of user-defined sequence. The method comprises the steps of preselecting a multiplicity of DNA sequence segments that will comprise the DNA molecule of user-defined sequence, separating the DNA sequence segments temporally, and combining the multiplicity of DNA sequence segments with at least one...

Mammoth DNA work could lead to cloning
A new sequencing technique has enabled researchers to decipher 1 percent of the genetic blueprint of the long-extinct wooly mammoth, the largest fragment of DNA ever decoded from a fossilized species .

S.Korean panel deals knockout blow to stem cell claim [all 11 lines fake, DNA does not match donors]
SEOUL (Reuters) - A South Korean panel dealt a devastating blow to discredited scientist Hwang Woo-suk on Thursday, concluding that his once-celebrated team provided no data to prove a claim they had produced tailored embryonic stem cells. The findings deepened the disgrace of a man once heralded as a national hero for his pioneering work on stem cell and cloning research, who now faces possible criminal charges. The panel will also review Hwang's 2004 paper on creating the first cloned human embryos for research and a claim he produced the world's first cloned dog, an Afghan hound named Snuppy. Hwang...

    Science and Technology
"The worlds first cloned dog has been revealed by researchers. South Koreas 'king of cloning', Woo Suk Hwang has successfully cloned an Afghan hound. The breakthrough is bound to lead to excitement among dog lovers who long to clone their dead pets, but Gerald Schatten at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, US, has stern words. 'We are not in the business of cloning pets,' he says. 'We perform nuclear transfer for medical research.' Producing 'Snuppy' or Seoul National University puppy was not easy. Hwangs team put together 1095 eggs containing the DNA of a three-year-old adult male Afghan, and transferred them into 123 surrogate mothers. Just three pregnancies resulted: one miscarried, and two others went to term. One of the clones died from pneumonia at 22 days old." Learn more in the New Scientist.

Superior molecular vaccine based on self-replicating rna, suicidal dna or naked dna vector, that links antigen with polypeptide that promotes antigen presentation
Improved molecular vaccines comprise nucleic acid vectors that encode a fusion polypeptide that includes polypeptide or peptide physically linked to an antigen. The linked polypeptide is one that (a) promotes processing of the expressed fusion polypeptide via the MHC class I pathway and/or (b) promotes development or activity of antigen...

  • Smooth Sailing (Selling) In The Second Half of The Year

You can make a difference in the second half! You can't do it by doing the same things the same way.

You can make a difference in the second half every year! You can do it by thinking differently and being different. For example:

Always link your ideas to action steps. Always put them in writing. Always include dates. Remember, the old Proverb that says - "Talk doesn't cook rice." Nothing gets done if you don't do it.

You get what you expect. Change your expectations. Always expect to make your numbers. Always means always. Be optimistic about everything. Optimists make mo ...

  • Human Evolution Timeline: Bible Quote and Science

The human evolution timeline is found recorded in Bible quotes (Book of Genesis). Adam's rib symbolizes the chromosome and is the key to the man ape evolution. In discussing evolution vs creation, many convergences like this one are found.

Someone who holds to the theory of evolution and denies creationism might ask why such an important matter as the creation of human beings would be in a symbolic message rather than in explicit language. And, after all, the Holy Scriptures don`t talk about chromosomes. That is a valid question, which shall be pursued below. First off, the main inter ...

  • Can We Really Get Rid of Cellulite?

It has been the bane of every women's existence since the dawn of time - the affliction known as cellulite. We all have it to varying degrees, and it seems to get worse as we get older in many cases. So, should we just resign ourselves to the fact that it is here to stay, or is there a way to fight and get rid of cellulite?
