Science and Religion (Part 1)
Could life have evolved by accident? Are we alone in the universe? These are the questions which have pounded the consciousness of individuals. Plus this no less persistent question: what is the purpose of life? Dinosaurs have come and gone. Modern man—Homo sapiens—has landed on the moon. Satellites map our solar system. New planets are being discovered on a regular basis. New theories proposed. Old ones discredited. Genetics, a new field of study—though not so new—ready to re-invent this singular species: mankind. Men of science and of faith are no further apart as a test tube from a pulpit. ...

The future of the Human Species - Part 3: How do we engineer an Earth-like environment?
The process of making an unearthly world more earth-like for the purpose of supporting human life is called teraforming - Steven Wintergerst.
Teraforming Mars is the only way we, humans can live and reproduce thus starting all over again on the red planet. As stated above, teraforming transforms any world unlike Earth into an inhabitable place for humans. Of course we cannot convert another planet, Mars for example, 100% into Earth. However Mars must resemble Earth in the following aspects: 1.Thicken the small existing atmosphere and make it comprise the important gases required for ...

Dying Is Easy - Comedy Is Hard! Finding Good Comedies Is Harder?
?The Emperor?s New Groove? was not Disney?s finest hour ? but the sequel, ?Kronk?s New Groove? is better. The wildly wacky ?Airplane? gets the full treatment as ?Airplane! Competition is Good Copying is Bad
I ve always been of the opinion that competition is a good thing It encourages all of us to be better and make better products While it might be true that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery copying someone else s work is simply wrong We recently came across a competitor using our sales copy The competitor was using a web graph showing the traffic on one of our sites along with our sales copy to promote their competing application Digging a little further I realized that their competing application was in both form and function identical to our application The competing program contained identical screenshots custom program icons and our help documentation While the code of the program was in fact different it was clear that our copyright had been violated We are not the first company to have our copyright violated and once the initial emotional reaction passed we took action
Everything bad is good for you is good
I just finished Steve Johnson's new book, Everything Bad is Good for You, and not only do I think it'll climb the best-seller lists, I'll be glad when it does. [Disclosure: The book comes out May 5. Steve sent me bound galleys because we bonded at a conference last year. I was a major fan of his well before that.] EBIGFY is a persuasive essay. Forget the didactic assignments you got in English class. I've been reading Steve's stuff for some time now and I think I've discovered what makes his writing style so good: He thinks well. He turns...

WORD COUNT: 903
Well, I suppose we should all be "happier than a pig in a poke". Why? This year marks the first time a man-made object has landed on Mars. Let's see, at last count there were at least two charming little robots ...

Why Do You Have Asthma?
Asthma is an inflammatory condition where your bronchiales constrict causing breathing difficulties. Your bronchioles become inflamed for a variety of physical, emotional and environmental reasons. It is not contagious so, you cannot catch it from another person.
But what is the real cause asthma? Why do some people develop asthma and why is asthma more common in the western world?
Inheriting Asthma
However, you can inherit the asthma tendency from your parents, although people with asthma should not worry about their future children on this score.

Fantasy Football Explodes into Fiction
Fifteen years ago, my friends and I wanted to get involved in fantasy sports. We had heard of Rotisserie baseball, the game where you select major leaguers and use their statistics for your own fantasy team. Most of us preferred football over baseball, so we did a little research and decided to create a fantasy football league. Now, we're entering our 16th season, with 20 of the most rabid football nuts anywhere, competing for pride and a small monetary prize each year. We're not alone, of course. Over 15 million Americans play fantasy football, a game that uses the statistics of prof ...
