  • Understanding Nutrition
With the release of the new dietary guidelines, in the form of the new food pyramid, I still find that many people don't actually understand what nutrition actually means. Because of this, dietary choices can seem overwhelming. Even greater confusion can be generated by prime time news specials which only strive to educate through clever sound-bites and diet fads which lead some to believe that all of their answers are found in one single "magic food." So what is nutrition and how can you understand it in a way that helps you apply it to your life and to the benefit of those you know and love? ...

  • An Introduction to Gastric Bypass Surgery
Obesity, once seen as akin to laziness and overeating, is now understood as a complex disorder having to do with genetics and hormonal as well as lifestyle factors. People seem to have very different energy requirements; some can eat half as much as others and weigh the same.

By some estimates, as many as 20% of Americans are obese with 6-10% classified as morbidly obese (having a body mass index of 40 or greater, or being more than 100 pounds overweight), a health problem with severe consequences that can include hypertension, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obstructive sleep apnea, ...

  • The Measurement Problem in Quantum Mechanics
Arguably the most intractable philosophical question attached to Quantum Mechanics (QM) is that of Measurement. The accepted (a.k.a. Copenhagen) Interpretation of QM says that the very act of sentient measurement determines the outcome of the measurement in the quantum (microcosmic) realm. The wave function (which describes the co-existing, superpositioned, states of the system) "collapses" following an act of measurement.

It seems that just by knowing the results of a measurement we determine its outcome, determine the state of the system and, by implication, the state of the Universe ...

    Genetics News:

What's good is bad, what's bad is good...

John writes: "One of the worst movies this summer hit the number one spot in ticket sales this past weekend. Someone tell Jessica that it was her movie, "The Dukes Of Hazzard," that we're talking about, and not "The Newlyweds" DVD. People are shocked and amazed that the movie is on top...."

Competition is Good Copying is Bad

I ve always been of the opinion that competition is a good thing It encourages all of us to be better and make better products While it might be true that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery copying someone else s work is simply wrong We recently came across a competitor using our sales copy The competitor was using a web graph showing the traffic on one of our sites along with our sales copy to promote their competing application Digging a little further I realized that their competing application was in both form and function identical to our application The competing program contained identical screenshots custom program icons and our help documentation While the code of the program was in fact different it was clear that our copyright had been violated We are not the first company to have our copyright violated and once the initial emotional reaction passed we took action

Competition is Good, Copying Is Bad

Before I delve into the article, I want to address a specific issue related to copying. While the first article deals with clear copyright violations, there is also a rabid problem in the industry related to the cloning of applications. I have more ideas than I can keep up with, I don't know why this behavior is condoned nor do I understand why developers can't be innovative, rather than cloning another's application. Cloning may not be illegal, but its certainly not ethical. Competition is Good, Copying is Bad I've always been of the opinion that competition is a good thing. It encourages all of us to be better and make better products. While it might be true that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, copying someone else's work is simply wrong. http://www.softwaremarketingresource.com/article65.html

The good thing and the bad thing

    • The good thing is that if you are in the line for customs and immigration farthest to the left, there are often four officers serving one line. The bad thing is that more and more people seem to be figuring this out. • The good thing is that I am home. The bad thing is that I am only home for 19 hours. • The good thing is that when I arrived, the latest copy of Cabinet Magazine had arrived. The other good thing is I have to be on a plane tomorrow, so I have time to read it. There is no bad thing about this particular item. • The good thing is I have a wonderful little dog. The bad thing is I have been home twice for less than 24 hours and so he is staying with Klaus and Esther. Bad for me, not for him. He loves Klaus and Esther. • The bad thing is that I am exhausted. The good thing is that this blog post is done and I can go to sleep now.

Bad is the opposite of good Is it Not with bad debt personal loans

Bad means bad no matter where you go It is cumbersome and heavy a threat and negative So you are taking this burden of bad debt every time you make a loan application for personal loans It cant be translated into something good and certainly not the most wanted thing especially when you apply for a loan Let us rethink this cant Can we translate bad debt into something good Yes it is possible It is very much feasible in face of current developments in the loan industry Bad debt personal loans are so easily available in UK that it is like bad d

  • Breast Enhancement Pills - Do They Work?

According to American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS) statistics, last year, 280,401 breast augmentation surgeries were performed in the US. The FDA’s Analysis of the Study of Mentor Saline Breast Implants goes on to report that as a result of their surgeries, forty-three percent of these augmentation patients experienced at least one complication within three years. The most frequent complaints included wrinkling, asymmetry, sagging or scarring of the breast, nipple changes and the need for additional surgery.

How do breast enhancement supplements work? In many cases th ...

  • Human Evolution Timeline: Bible Quote and Science

The human evolution timeline is found recorded in Bible quotes (Book of Genesis). Adam's rib symbolizes the chromosome and is the key to the man ape evolution. In discussing evolution vs creation, many convergences like this one are found.

Someone who holds to the theory of evolution and denies creationism might ask why such an important matter as the creation of human beings would be in a symbolic message rather than in explicit language. And, after all, the Holy Scriptures don`t talk about chromosomes. That is a valid question, which shall be pursued below. First off, the main inter ...

  • Can We Really Get Rid of Cellulite?

It has been the bane of every women's existence since the dawn of time - the affliction known as cellulite. We all have it to varying degrees, and it seems to get worse as we get older in many cases. So, should we just resign ourselves to the fact that it is here to stay, or is there a way to fight and get rid of cellulite?

Thankfully, the answer is yes, we can fight cellulite, or at least the appearance of cellulite, through several therapeutic treatments that are available on the market today. It is not, however, a one-time deal. Once you stop the treatments, the cellulite will inev ...
