Building A Better Body, One Brick At A Time
Copyright 2005 Tom Venuto
The quest to develop a stunningly fit, lean and attractive body is a long, slow journey. It's not something you achieve overnight by popping a few pills or strapping an electric gizmo to your belly.
Which reminds me, did you know that by the time the FTC finally blew the whistle on the electronic ab belt scam, the makers of those "ab zappers" had swindled over $100 million dollars from unsuspecting consumers? Fortunately, some of those companies had to pay it back, and then some! The FTC charged three companies - Fast Abs, Ab Tronic and Ab Energizer - w ...

Breathalyzer for TB and Hepatitis Needed at Border
One of the latest technology advances in innovation for disease control is a device, which is similar to a Breathalyzer. It is truly amazing what entrepreneurs can come up with when the mother of invention remains mankind’s greatest motivator. There are some issues with such equipment, in that how do you test people with out infecting those being tested when the others who were tested might have had the disease and contaminated equipment? We have outlined some ideas on how to do this without infecting those who work with the INS, Border Patrol or in DHS. First of all we know how serio ...

Does Human Cloning Really Hold The Key To Miracle Cures? One of the Worlds Leading Biochemists Says we Have it Backwards When it Comes to Cloning
Recently it was reported that South Korean scientists successfully developed a highly efficient procedure to produce embryonic stem cells that have been derived from cloned human embryos for therapeutic research. Many scientists in the United States are now saying that Korea has out paced the US because of the Federal ban on funding for embryonic stem cell research. They contend that the ban on therapeutic cloning using human embryos should be lifted in the interest of research. Ethical questions abound. In a recent poll when asked whether they support the cloning of human embryos the overwhelming answer from the general public was NO. However, the use of cloning for research had a certain level of acceptance. Do we have it backwards? [PRWEB May 22, 2005]

NAS President Says U.N. Statement Against Cloning Research Too Broad
The U.N. General Assembly approved this week a nonbinding declaration calling upon member states to prohibit any attempts to create human life through cloning processes and any research to achieve that aim. The U.S. National Academy of Sciences and other members of the InterAcademy Panel, a worldwide organization of science academies, have stated that a worldwide ban on human reproductive cloning -- a technique that attempts to produce a child -- is justified. However, the declaration is ambiguous and should not extend to nuclear transfer, also known as "therapeutic cloning," which is very different and enhances the likelihood of attaining medical breakthroughs, says NAS President Bruce Alberts.

The future of the Human Species - Part 3: How do we engineer an Earth-like environment?
The process of making an unearthly world more earth-like for the purpose of supporting human life is called teraforming - Steven Wintergerst.
Teraforming Mars is the only way we, humans can live and reproduce thus starting all over again on the red planet. As stated above, teraforming transforms any world unlike Earth into an inhabitable place for humans. Of course we cannot convert another planet, Mars for example, 100% into Earth. However Mars must resemble Earth in the following aspects: 1.Thicken the small existing atmosphere and make it comprise the important gases required for ...

Sun Safety
The sun is an important part of our lives. Exposure to the sun allows our bodies to produce Vitamin D which is needed to help absorb calcium for strong healthy bones. Generally, we get 50-80% of our sun exposure by the time we reach age 18, therefore, it is important that parents teach children how to stay in the sun safely.
Try to avoid prolonged periods in the sun when its at its highest in the sky. This is the time the sun can do the most damage to your skin. In the United States, that is generally between 10am and 4pm. If you are out during this period, make sure you are protected w ...

Longevity - Can Fat Cells Dictate How Long a Human Survives?
According to the September Issue of Popular Mechanics, a report written by Jim Wilson explains how human beings may some day have the capability to survive to be 180 (one hundred eighty) years old!
Based on research from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology(http://web.mit.edu/biology/www/facultyareas/facresearch/guarente.shtml) and Professor Leonard P. Guarante; genetic makeup that rules our individual "time-clocks" can be virtually erased.
* How is this possible? Every person has DNA fragments dubbed telomeres Our telomeres are specifically designed to extend our live ...
