  • Take Control of Your Metabolism:Quick Tips for Increased Muscle Tone, Faster Fat Burning, and Energ

So many people are talking about how slow their metabolism is and why they need to start taking the latest diet supplement scam yet they don’t even understand how the human metabolism works. So before I even go into how to speed yours up, I want to first go over some of the basics.

    What is metabolism?

Although there are many scientific ways for me explain it, and I could make it seem really confusing like most of the so-called experts do, but I won’t. I’m going to give you my extremely simple and easy to understand definition... metabolism is the rate at which your body burns ca ...

  • Paternity Testing Regulation: Help or Hindrance?

    Introduction

The internet has opened up opportunities for many DNA laboratories to distribute free paternity test kits in hopes of a sale from returned samples. In Europe, France is the only country that regulates how paternity tests are conducted. Citizens of other European nations are free to satisfy their own curiosities and nagging doubts, while French citizens jump through hoops. Regulation and red tape protect some while hindering others.

    Copyright 2005 Tom Venuto

The quest to develop a stunningly fit, lean and attractive body is a long, slow journey. It's not something you achieve overnight by popping a few pills or strapping an electric gizmo to your belly.

Which reminds me, did you know that by the time the FTC finally blew the whistle on the electronic ab belt scam, the makers of those "ab zappers" had swindled over $100 million dollars from unsuspecting consumers? Fortunately, some of those companies had to pay it back, and then some! The FTC charged three companies - Fast Abs, Ab Tronic and Ab Energizer - w ...

    Genetics News:

Female chromosome has X factor. Females are genetically more varied than males, an analysis of the X chromosome has found. [BBC News | Science/Nature | UK Edition]

A double punch for female survival
Researchers at the European Molecular Biology Laboratory have made a breakthrough in understanding how cells control the "dosage" of a crucial protein. Males have single copies of certain key genes on the X chromosome, whereas females have two. Normally this would lead females to produce twice the amount of some proteins, which could be fatal. The findings, reported in Cell (Aug. 26, 2005) reveal a unique "double-locking" mechanismon a crucial female mRNA.

A double punch for female survival
Achieving equality between the sexes can be a challenge even for single cells. Since evolution began removing bits of male DNA to create the 'Y' chromosome, males have had a single copy of certain ...

  • Your Organizing DNA
    Your Organizing DNA

Do you like storing your papers on top of your desk in trays, baskets or just plain piles? Do you have a preference for Post-it? notes and maybe some colorful file folders? Or are clearly labeled files and file cabinets more your style? Do you 'file' or 'pile'? I make it a practice of testing my workshop participants for this very thing because of its importance in creating and supporting an effective, organized workspace.

Here are a few Scientific Guidelines for strength training that have always been around but are not followed by many training systems these days.
